Fullmer 2008 Christmas letter

Dear Family and friends,

Well it has been another wonderful year for us here in Olympia, Washington. The rain is not as bad as we thought it would be, but we sure do love it when the sun is out which is more often then I had imagined it to be. Josh and I have been married now for 2 fabulous, eventful years. We are still living in our cute, little 1 bedroom apartment. However, we are in the searching process of moving into a bigger apartment because we are expecting a little one in July. So yes you read that right, I am pregnant with our first child. No morning sickness yet but as I am writing this letter, I am only 8 1/2 weeks along. Our first ultra sound was amazing. Josh got teary-eyed and all I could do was smile. Our doctor is really nice. He is a 2nd year residence and reassured me that he is an old strong team that is well trained. But that is all the news we have about the baby for now. Let's get on to what else has been happening this past year with our little family.

I am sure many of you know about our other new addition to our little family. He is a white and grey, wired haired miniature dachshund. He is about 9 months old and we got him back in May of this year. We named him Oskar. He is great! Of course we have our challenges with chewing but I will definitely say I was very glad that he was pretty much potty trained when we got him at 9 weeks old. He loves to play ball and tug of war. Although I would say his favorite game is to take our socks when we are tying to get ready in the morning and run around the house expecting us to chase him. It is so cute! Or his other favorite game would be taking stuffed animals and chewing their noses off and pulling out all of the stuffing and leaving it lying around the house of Josh and I to pick up. In the long run, he is a great addition to our family, and keeps us on our toes!

Well, people like to tease Josh and say he is the next Indiana Jones. He loves studying anthropology and archeology. He has finished 1 year now and about 2 1/2 more years to go until he is done with his Bachelor of Arts. He is currently working on two certificates in his field: museum studies and archeology. Once he is done this next December with his associates, he will be transferring to a 4 year school to finish up his bachelors. He has been helping the scouts lately with their archeology merit badge. He has a passion for his field and really enjoys sharing with others who will listen! Lately his major project has been carving his canoe paddle every Monday. I do say it looks quite good! He wants to carve a rattle next for our baby. At his school he is the vice president of the anthropology club and on the environmental sustainability for the college. Lastly, he has been asked to head the team to help do some archeology work on the 1848 homestead from the first non native settler in the area name George W Bush. So all in all, lots of great work that will help him in his chose career when he is finished. For church, he is still the 2nd counselor in the elders quorum presidency. He loves serving in the church and this calling has taught him lots! He is great at what he does and we are lucky to have him in our home!

As for me, I am just working. I know I have gone through my fair share of jobs until I finally found the job I like. I just couldn't get away from those adorable, smiling four year old faces. So yes I am a preschool teacher again. Josh and I have talked and eventually I will go back to school to get my masters in teaching. I really want to be in the school districts but it will take time. I may get a second bachelors degree if it is the easier route for now but I have to do some more research first. Other than work, I have been busy scrap booking, taking Oskar for walks, shopping and trying to find good deals to decorate our little home, and working on finding time to perfect my cooking. I will admit though that Josh does most of the cooking in this house, he is great at it!

Well, next year we will have lots to share. But for now we have had a great year and hope you have too! Kknow we love you all and miss you! Keep in touch when you can find the time from your busy lives. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

with much love,
Katie, Josh, Oskar, and Baby Fullmer

the past few weeks

so I realized I am awful at keeping this updated! sorry for those who read this.

Back in August we went to Maryland to visit my family. We went to six flags, did lots of shopping, ate at a Japanese grill, Renaissance festival, antique show, DC, Newseum, and made our own pajama pants. While in the middle of spending time with my family, we hopped over to Virgina and spent time with Josh's family. With them we went to the DC zoo, church, Harpers fairy, played the Wii, and relaxed. Our trip was 2 weeks and a blast! When we got home we had no idea how long we were really gone. Oskar even went with us and he had a great time with Danny (my parents dog).

Hm...Josh starts back with school next week and a new job. I am just working both jobs right now and enjoying the sun. It is supposed to start raining again in Washington soon and get cold fast and stay for a long time! I has been sunny for the past couple of months and I really have enjoyed it. Josh and I decided that we think we may be living in Washington for quite some time now. At the end of November we hope to move to a 2 bedroom apartment. We are starting to out grow our 1 bedroom...it does have a breakfast nook and a dining room (which we use for our office). so in the 2 bedroom we will keep it that way and hopefully fill the 2nd room with something...

Here are some pics from our Vaca. I finally learned how to put pics on here...go Katie!

My dad and I at LL Bean....look at the size of that back pack!

So...I know I said I would post some pictures of what has been happening, needless to say I have been busy with work. The new job is great though...I love my little one's. Josh is going to Canada for the Anthropology club this weekend (well for 5 days) so I will have some time to spend with Oskar, do some art projects, clean my house, and work on our blog (it needs some TLC...seriously).

Josh loves his summer class. He gets to spend the day diggin' in the bay. I really think he and his friends spend most of their time swinging on the rope swing. For his class he was in the newspaper yesterday for a basket his group found. Of course he is taking lots of pictures and keeping the newspaper clippings. I am going to help him put a portfolio together for him to use for interviews when he graduates. We both definately know he finally has found his major, his passion. We shall see where it leads us...

Oskar is great. 4 months old now...he just got his last puppy shots and now we are starting on his rabbies. He is always so full of energy. We went to watch fireworks on Sunday for the Olympia Lake Fair. Boy he did not like them...he stuck it out though wrapped in a blanket and his head buried in my arm pit. I will definately say though we can never go any where without any one telling us how cute he is...seriously.

This past weekend Josh and I went up to Port Townsend to go camping. It was quite fun. We got to sleep in the emergency camp site since we didn't reserve a site like we were supposed to. Then we went into town the next day and shopped and ate yummy pizza and enjoyed the beach. It is a beautiful little town.

But this is a short update for now...

New Addition

I just realized I haven't posted info about our new addition to our family....ITS OSKAR...he is a long haired mini dachshund. Only 8 weeks when we got him so now about 9 1/2. what a great puppy?! He loves to chew, lick, be the center of attention, smell and explore his new home, run into the screen door to get out side, play with my hair, sleep, and he is now discovering to bark. it is so cute! He keeps us on our toes. We love him! We will post pics when we get our desk top fixed...promise!
